The Pressure of Blogging

Many believe that there is much pressure involved with being a blogger. Pressure to amuse, pressure to make people laugh, pressure to use correct grammar and punctuation, pressure to being intellectual, pressure to have viewers, to post often, to read other blogs, to have comments on your blog, to…the list goes on and on and on and on.

To be quite honest with you, I feel little pressure. There’s not a good reason why but it’s the truth. My wife, on the other hand, feels the pressure weighing down on her shoulders. If she doesn’t blog every day will she lose her readers? If she doesn’t blog to impress will she let you down? I’m not looking to retrieve for my wife a hand out of any kind. But I want to make a point.
I would like to suggest a deal. A virtual deal. What is blogging, but a means of release. It’s a way to share some of yourself with an online community. And so, let us…I don’t know what I’m typing about. I’m trying to watch Braveheart while I write a blog and that always ends up bad (see: Ryan). At one point this blog had a purpose, but it’s only purpose now apparently is to keep me from watching my movie! Darn AWITP, Blogger, and everything else I once held holy! I will not miss any more of my movie. I must not.
Now, I am off to folding clothes and watching Braveheart get betrayed. Damn Robert the Bruce!

  1. You say you don't know what you were typing about and I was actually starting to feel bad for being mad at Jess for not posting– for teasing really. But then you lost it and went into Braveheart and RP, and … well, let's just say I won't be talking to your wife tonight.

  2. OK Ry, here i am blogging – and i blame you! But you are a most creative, surprising, interesting, fellow. Although people are dropping like flies to the pressure of blogging – It feels good to know you at a whole new level. i want to say something more clever but i must eat dinner (its 8:00 – i've been reading everyones blogs for 2 stinking hours!)and its almost time for "24" Hugs

  3. marm thats fun and the reference to me PRICELESS. Umm on the other hand Braveheart is a much more compelling story than anything I blog…. I made my wife watch it a couple months ago along with all of star wars and thats all I have to say about that.

  4. I feel pressure NOT to be too intellectual. Afterall, I read blogs because they're fun,(but I read books because they are challenging) so I think I should return the favor to my fellow bloggers. Because of that I just started a second blog for not-as-fun stuff. That way I'll keep the blog that people read fairly light, but I can blog whatever I want on the second one and I won't feel too bad about losing everyone else's intrest.

  5. So Ty, when I casually come across your blog every once in a while that is just fun, light, and off the cuff stuff? Dang, I feel retarded.
